behind the diy
I grew up with hard working parents who were always doing it themselves. My dad was a mechanic and always tinkering with fixing something. He had so many tools, and I was always interested in watching him. My mom never stopped moving, if she needed something done… she just did it!
Watching them growing up ignited a passion for tools and DIY.
It started out as practical for me. I wanted and needed things I couldn't buy. But learning about tools, design and building things created a confidence and spark I didn't realize I needed in my everyday life. It gave me more purpose and became my passion.
If I'm not spending time with family or enjoying nature, you can find me flipping through home decor magazines. Looking at the lines and curves of the furniture, getting ideas and dreaming about my next project. Or thinking about the day I can afford it all, haha. Seriously though, furniture is expensive and one great reason to learn how to DIY home projects.
But until then, I get those designer looks by doing-it-myself and sharing how to along the way. It is soul satisfying teaching others how to DIY and watching them grow in their journey and realize how capable they and how they can change their lives and the home they live in!
DIY projects were not only changing things in my house, but also within me. This creative outlet had a direct connection with my confidence and mood. As an intro/extrovert with slight anxiety, I felt something shift internally. It was exactly what I thought was missing in my life. It felt like a sign from God to start diving deeper and investing in myself through this journey.Â
I enrolled in New York Institute of Art & Design to learn more in depth about interior design. There is so much that goes into designing a successful room and I am obsessed with the psychology and education behind that. Then I started learning more about content creation and how to become a social media influencer. Friends and family started asking for my advice and help with projects. I loved helping them! Which naturally led me to shifting my focus on helping women kickstart their DIY journey.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read a bit more about my story. I'd love to hear yours. I hope you find value as I share the ins & outs of DIY.
If you ever have any questions, I am always up for a chat here or on social platform.
